Rev. Erik Shamblin - Minister of Worship/Music
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly ... as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." (Col 3:16) We are taught through God s word to worship Him. Music is one of the greatest avenues of worship because it combines intellect of words with emotion of music blended together to glorify the King. Old Fort provides many opportunities to sing in the worship services as a community of God, and we also provide the opportunity if you would like to take a leadership role in worship. The main function of each of our choirs is to learn about worship and lead worship through music. Childrenīs Choir: These choirs are grouped by grade, beginning with 3 yr olds and going through grade 5. The choirs will perform musicals and sing in a few worship services while learning about music and worship. Youth Choir: This choir is made up of students in grades 6 - 12. The youth choir performs musicals, sings in several worship services and makes an annual student choir trip. Celebration Choir - Adult Choir: This choir is for church members 18+. They meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. This choir leads worship at each 11:00 service, performs a Christmas musical, Fourth of July presentation, and is the core of the Passion Play cast at Easter. Child care is available during rehearsal. Joy Singers - Senior Adult Choir: This choir is for church members 55+. They meet on Sunday evenings from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. This choir leads the 8:00 am worship service once each month and performs musicals throughout the year. They have been invited to sing at several other churches and are the annual choir for the Middleton Place Festival each Christmas season. Individuals interested in singing solos, duets, trios, or quartets who
are involved in the one of the choirs are used for special music during
Sunday services.
