As you are reading this article, the first and second teams to encounter the people of Chumpi, Peru, are there! The purpose of the first team is to prayer walk the city and evangelize as the Spirit leads. They will also set up camp for the five teams to come later. The second team to arrive is the medical team. They will overlap the first team by a day. Please be in prayer for the safety of these teams as they travel the treacherous roads from Lima to Chumpi. Pray that God will give them a vision of the work He wants to accomplish there. The team members are: Eric Lethco, Kelly Shamblin, Kathy Corless, Scott Cannon, John Mark Redwine, Jerod Lethco, and John Williams.  Team 2 members are: Mark Redwine, Randy Sorrow, Vicki Sorrow, Charles Sanders, Rosanna Torres, and Kathy Sanders.
The excitement and preparation of the six teams going to Peru has been mounting for over a year now.  They have been acquiring skills necessary to engage the people of Chumpi. Team members have been praying that God would lead them and give them a vision of the mission He wants to accomplish there. Each person has been praying that the hearts of a people without Jesus will be prepared to receive His message.  Gathering supplies for the medical team has been important and, of
of course, acquiring knowledge of the customs and language of the people has been time consuming. The preparation has been done and God has given us the signal to cross the Jordan! On the other side await the people of another land awaiting the arrival of those who will tell them about Jesus and how much He cares for them.
This project will not be just to share Jesus with the inhabitants of the land but to make disciples and teach them how to live an abundant life in Christ. The ultimate goal is to help the people of Chumpi build their own church and teach them how to maintain it by building more disciples. We will be seeking out church leadership and those who will help the church to survive and grow.
These teams could not survive with out the prayers of family and friends back home. Please keep them and their families in your prayers. Pray for the local people of Chumpi and for the church in Nazca who will do a lot of the follow-up work in this area for us. Pray for the physical safety of all who are involved. All the teams will be up above 10,000 feet. Altitude at this level can cause strain on the body and mind.
WHAT AN EXCITING TIME FOR OLD FORT BAPTIST CHURCH! GLORY TO GOD!!!!!!!
Fishing In East Asia
Fish and rice are the staple foods of East Asia. Fishing in East Asia for Americans is not permissible due to the pollution issues. What kind of fishing can be done there? Jesus told His disciples to be fishers of men. Could this be possible in East Asia? The team that went to East Asia in April seems to think so. In fact, they caught a few fish.
Before the team even left America to go to East Asia, the great Holy One was preparing the hearts of the people this team would encounter. He gave them a hunger for very important matters. Each day the team went into the streets to throw out their nets by using the English corners (places where people gathered to learn conversational English). The fish that were curious about the nets would hang around and inquire further about great spiritual matters. Some of those curious fish even jumped into the net.  They liked what they heard. Now they are fishers of
men and are throwing out their own nets to catch more fish and teach them how to become great fishermen. The fishermen who returned from East Asia can now enjoy their catch while they sit on the beach eating breakfast with the greatest Fisherman who ever lived.
God works in great and wonderful ways. It was reported by this team that there were some undercover Communist government officials sitting within hearing distance of their important conversations. Some of the nationals would warn them of the danger. Like angels who released Paul from prison, angels covered the things that mattered most and kept our team members safe from the one who comes to kill, steal and destroy.

Please remember these new fish and fishermen in East Asia.
