Missionaries on Furlough
January 2008 Prayer Requests

Tues. Jan. 1 As we enter this new year thank God for all He did in 2007 and ask for His richest blessings for all of our prayer partners in 2008.

Wed. Jan. 2 Pray for Pam and Dan as Kid’s Fort has a long day today. Pray that we will know how to minister to each family this year.

Thur. Jan. 3 Pray for Katelyn as she starts her final semester of high school. Pray that all the stress and pressure of last semester would be over and that she will start this semester with a positive attitude and outlook.

Fri. Jan. 4 Praise God that He provided all of our financial needs for Nov. and Dec. while Dan worked only part-time.

Sat. Jan. 5 Pray that God would give Dan the job he needs to support our family over the next 7 months.

Sun. Jan. 6 As this the prayer calendar is being written Pam has not been back to the urologist so we don’t know what will happen but please pray that no matter what the outcome is that we will continue to have a peace about it. We will let you know in the February prayer calendar what transpires.

Mon. Jan. 7 As you pray for Dan to get the right full time job pray that we will find the right replacement for him at Kid’s Fort.

Tue. Jan. 8 Praise the Lord for the good recovery that Dan’s Dad made from his open heart by-pass surgery at the beginning of November. Thank everyone who prayed for him. Both Dan’s sister and mother have time and again said how thankful they are that we were here when this happened. Just another thing that convinces us that it was meant for us to stay after our furlough and take this leave of absence.

Wed. Jan. 9 Thank you for praying for Tim when he went to court for his accident. No one else from the accident showed up so the judge dismissed the case, no fine, no lose of points. Praise the Lord.

Thur. Jan. 10 Continue praying for Mrs. Hickman as she deals with the loss of her faithful companion of over 50 years. Pray that God will guide her into the ministry He has for her.

Fri. Jan. 11 Continue praying about where Katelyn should go for college. Due to a mistake on the application, that we caught, there has been a delay in Katelyn finding out if she has been accepted to either of the two schools where she has applied.

Sat. Jan. 12 Continue praying for Katelyn as she writes her senior thesis book. She is about half way finished so still has a ways to go.

Sun. Jan. 13 Continue praying with us as we correspond with the field about possible jobs for us when we return to the field in Sept. 2008. There have been several possibilities offered to us and we hope to solidify one of them in the near future. You guys will be some of the first to know.

Mon. Jan. 14 Pray for Kid’s Fort today as we have another long day. It is so hard on these kids when they come early in the morning, some as early as 6:45 AM, and then don’t leave until late, some as late as 6:00 PM.

Tue. Jan. 15 Pray for patience for all the Kid’s Fort workers as we have another long day today.

Wed. Jan. 16 Pray for the kids as Kid’s Fort that they will learn to show respect for each other and that we will know how to promote this attitude.

Thur. Jan.17 Pray for Dan and Katelyn as they try to tour two of the schools that Katelyn has applied to over this week end.

Fri. Jan. 18 Pray that Katelyn will have a very strong impression from the Lord as she is at the school that He wants her to go to.

Sat. Jan. 19 Please be in prayer that we will get medical clearance to return to the field. We submitted all the necessary exams back in May but they would not review them until closer to our return date.

Sun. Jan. 20 Pray for the new worship group that the Johnson’s have been attending that they will know God’s will for the direction He wants them to take.

Mon. Jan. 21 Believe it or not this is another long day at Kid’s Fort. Pray that the activities we have planned will be fun but also helpful to the children.

Tue. Jan. 22 Pray for Pam as she celebrates her birthday. Pray she will grow stronger in her walk with the Lord each day and that her relationship with her Savior will be sweeter than ever before.

Wed. Jan. 23 We praise the Lord for all of the opportunities we had to speak during the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering/International Missions Week in December. It was a joy to once again share what God is doing through our faithful prayer/financial supporters.

Thur. Jan. 24 Please pray for every believer and missionary in Africa that they would faithfully share the Good News of a Heavenly Father that gave His only Son so that man could experience
salvation and eternal and abundant life.   Ask God that many would hear and accept the Good News of Christ.

Fri. Jan. 25 Pray for Pam, Katelyn and a small group of young ladies that will be attending a Women of Faith Revolve tour for teen girls in N. Caroline. Pray that this will be a special time for the girls as they learn from God and worship with other teen girls.

Sat. Jan. 26 Pray for safety in travel as we return from NC late tonight.

Sun. Jan. 27 CESALT, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa Leadership Team, is a meeting of all strategy facilitators, treasurers, logistic coordinators and other key leaders.   These leaders gather together to hear from God and each other in order to better lead the strategy and ministries of the more than 500 missionaries in CESA.   CESALT will be held February 25-29, 2008.
Would you please begin now praying that God’s Spirit would work in each person’s life to make them moldable clay in God’s hands?   Good leadership begins with an obedient and willing heart to follow God’s leadership.   Pray that each one would come prepared to hear from God.

Mon. Jan. 28 CESALT, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa Leadership Team, is a meeting of all strategy facilitators, treasurers, logistic coordinators and other key leaders Ask God to use Jerry and Bobbye Rankin as they lead in Bible study and during workshop time. Pray for the CESA committee of Trustees, David Steverson, partnering churches, and others joining the meeting that all would work together for the expansion of God’s kingdom here in Central, Eastern and Southern Africa. Afterwards, the trustees will be involved in a number of different ministry trips.   Pray for the planning of these trips and that God will use them to give the trustees a clearer picture of how their decisions impact work in CESA.

Tue. Jan. 29 God is at work!   He is sovereign and all powerful and He is doing a new thing across Central, Eastern and Southern Africa.   As a result of your prayers, more people groups are being engaged, more men, women and children are coming to faith in Christ, being baptized and intentionally sharing their faith with others, with more churches being planted.   The CESA region continues to look for prayer partners who would like to pray for the most unreached people groups in CESA.   You can make a vital difference!   Write HYPERLINK "mailto:standinginthegap@cesafrica.org" standinginthegap@cesafrica.org and we will send you information to consider in partnering in prayer for the peoples of CESA.   Thanks for your part in
prayer and in giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and international missions.   You play such a vital part of the team!

Wed. Jan. 30 In 2008 the missionaries of Central, Eastern and Southern Africa will meet together in sectional meetings rather than at a local level.   The Southern section will meet in March, the Central section will meet in July and the Eastern section clusters in July/August.   Begin now praying for the planning of these important times to equip, encourage, challenge and celebrate with the missionary personnel.   Ask for God’s Spirit to move in the hearts of those leading sessions, workshops and Bible studies as they prepare.   Pray that this would be a time of recommitment to the task and that all done would honor the Lord.   Thank God for this time of renewal for all missionaries and their families.

Thur. Jan. 31 Continue to pray for Tim and Katelyn as they attend classes and do the required work that they will do their best in all things.
