Missionaries to Africa
July Prayer Requests

Johnson July 2008 Prayer Calendar

Tue. July 1 Praise the Lord that He continues to speak to the families of the Kid’s Fort Kids. We had another family begin coming to church as a result of the kids singing in church last month.

Wed. July 2 Pray for Tim as he begins adjusting to living alone in his new apartment.

Thur. July 3 Praise the Lord that Katelyn qualified for the Hope Scholarship which will help toward college expenses.

Fri. July 4 Praise the Lord for our country and pray that God will place the one He wants in the White House.

Sat. July 5 Pray for Dr. Chuck Lawless of SBTS and the seminaries and theological educators in the CESA region as they  evaluate what is being done and what can be done in the future to more adequately meet the needs of theological education in CESA.

Sun. July 6 Pray that as Tim and Katelyn resettle that they will find a church close by where they can become active members.

Mon. July 7 Please pray that God will grant wisdom to all involved in the theological meetings and that learning would take place that would enhance the theological training across CESA.

Tue. July 8 Pray for Pam and Katelyn as they travel to Aiken today.

Wed. July 9 Pray for Pam and Katelyn as they attend freshmen and parent orientation today.

Thur. July 10 Pray for Katelyn as she finishes up orientation and signs up for classes that she will get the classes and teachers that she needs. Pray for Pam and Katelyn as they head back to Charleston this evening.

Fri. July 11 We praise the Lord for the possibility of partnering with two churches. Pray for God to continue to guide these churches as they seek His direction for future ministry with us.

Sat. July 12 Our mission has asked us to choose 5 churches that we want to go deeper with through prayer and partnership. Pray that those we choose will join us in this way.

Sun. July  13 Pray for us as we work on a Master Plan for those who would like to partner with us.

Mon. July 14 Pray for Pam as she does the job of Cluster Prayer Advocate for the Central/Western Cluster of Tanzania. There are many facets of the job that have changed since the Johnsons came stateside in 2006 and Pam wants to be as effective as possible.

Tue. July 15 Thank you for praying for the World Changers group. Pray that what they experienced in North Caroline will stay with them for a long time.

Wed. July 16 Thank you for your prayers for the CESA 40 Days and 40 Nights Orientation for new missionaries.   The participants returning to their place of assignment have much to process as they reflect on African life and relationships while spending 3 days and nights in an African home.

Thur. July 17 As a result of your faithful prayers, missionaries and their children caught a glimpse into the lives of the African people God has called them to serve and came away with a respect and love for them.

Fri. July 18 And as a result of years of witness, the 40/40 cook, who was a Muslim, accepted Christ and was baptized.   How exciting for these new missionaries to be a part of seeing his life eternally changed.

Sat. July 19 Begin now praying for the next 40/40 which will be held in October and will have a few more participants.    May God use this to build solid foundations for future ministry in CESA.

Sun. July 20 Continue to pray that they will quickly grant us medical clearance to return to Tanzania in September. At this time we still have heard nothing from the medical department.

Mon. July 21 Continue to pray that as Strategy Leader for the Maasai of Tanzania Dan will begin to formulate a plan of action for when we return to the field in September.

Tue. July 22 Although every missionary comes to the field with past experience and knowledge, a new culture, way of thinking, and language presents a new set of challenges.   Pray for missionaries to allow God to use their pasts to help them in their work and ministries.

Wed. July 23 Pray that those who attended Strategy Leader Training will have confidence and be encouraged in their lives and that as a result God’s kingdom will come across the CESA region.

Thur. July 24 Pray for the over 270 missionaries coming together for the Central Section meeting.   Pray also that God would use these meetings to prepare each and every missionary for hearing from the Lord and then choosing to willingly obey His leadership.

Fri. July 25 Pray for the people in Africa as so much of the CESA region is experiencing the pull of power, politics and the scramble for the available resources.

Sat. July 2 6 Pray that missionary testimonies would be strong and that they would impact the people and land in which they live.

Sun. July 27 Ask God to give governmental leaders godly wisdom as they lead the various countries of Africa through these difficult days.

Mon. July 28 Pray for South Africa and their recent “xenophobic” outbursts as South Africans have attacked people from surrounding countries.

Tue. July 29 Pray for Kenya and her tribal tensions after recent elections is another example of this struggle.

Wed. July 30 Pray for Zimbabwe and the struggle for power and for the land all reveals man’s basic sin nature and the desperate need for a relationship with Christ that puts others first and not the natural instinct to grab what is available for ones self.

Thur. July 31 In the midst of these struggles and tensions and as Africa redefines itself, missionaries and Baptist partners live and share the hope and purpose that comes through Christ alone.
