Missionaries to Africa
November Prayer Requests

Thurs. Nov. 1 Please pray for Tim. This has been a stressful semester as he is trying to balance a heavy work load, harder classes, and church. Pray for him to have wisdom when it comes to keeping the right balance between these three things and having down time too.

Fri. Nov. 2 Pray for Katelyn as she struggles with “senoritis”. She is having a hard time staying focused on her school work and wanting to slack off. Pray that she will be diligent in her studies and faithful to the end.

Sat. Nov. 3 Pray for Katelyn as she completes college applications. Pray that she will be accepted to the university that God wants her to go to.

Sun. Nov. 4 Continue praying for the Hickmans. At this writing Mr. Hickman is still confined to bed and home health nurses still come in to help out.

Mon. Nov. 5 Pray for the newly formed CESA Regional Leadership Team.   Not only does this team make important decisions related to strategy, personnel and the use of finances, but they also spiritually lead and nurture the missionaries under their care.   In a region as diverse as CESA, this at times is a mammoth task and they must rely on God’s enabling and equipping.   Ask God to knit their hearts together, give them wisdom to make decisions and that they would hear and obey God’s leadership.   Ask God to strengthen their faith and dependence on Him as they pray, plan and work together.

Tues. Nov. 6 University Students from the US and Tanzania spent 6 weeks  sharing the  Story  in the Luguru  area.   At the end of that time they celebrated by premiering the Jesus Film in the Luguru language.  Praise the Lord for the decisions that were made!   Please pray for follow-up with discipleship and to continue to plant seeds.

Wed. Nov. 7 Most Muslims in Central, Eastern and Southern Africa intertwine Islam with their animistic beliefs regarding the influence of ancestors in their lives. Pray for missionaries to clearly present the Gospel and faithfully follow-up with new believers coming out of Islam.

Thurs. Nov. 8 The Central Western Tanzania cluster is experiencing many changes. Retirement, re-structuring the cluster, and relocation of personnel is being experienced in several areas.   Please pray for the local church leaders to have confidence that they have been well taught, and are now able to lead in planting and developing churches.   Pray that they will be faithful to look to the Lord for their guidance.   Pray for the missionaries who are re-locating to clearly discern where God would want them next.   Pray for those who have already re-located, that they will clearly sense God's presence in their new ministries.   For those who remain, pray that God will enhance their ministries, and encourage them.

Fri. Nov. 9 This session of the Central, Eastern and Southern Africa field orientation, 40 Days and 40 Nights, will conclude on Nov. 24. Pray for those leading this time of orientation to exhibit wisdom as they teach these new missionaries.

Sat. Nov. 10 Women around the world use heena on their hands and feet.   Now Truth Illustrations can be drawn on their hands.   Please pray that the Truth Stories will continue to be shared through henna.  Pray for creativity and wisdom for the developers of this project and that our Father would be glorified through it!

Sun. Nov. 11 Because of the long history of Baptist in Central, Eastern and Southern Africa some missionary teams have already and are exiting work where churches are strong and national leaders are in place. Pray that God would increase the faith and spiritual growth among these African leaders and make this transition time smooth.

Mon. Nov. 12 Join Jim and Linda Sellers in praising God for the beginnings of multiplication of the preaching points begun among the Maasai of Tanzania. Linda shares, “This is our goal – to see them reaching out to other Maasai, using the storying cloth to share Christ, thereby reproducing themselves hopefully many times over.”      The preaching point at Selela is doing very well and are interested in becoming a church.   About five miles away some people are meeting and have reported that six others are meeting in a house and want teaching there.   One of the men from the other Selela group is going to teach there – a great praise.   Pray for this little group at Selela village.”    The Sellers ask that you rejoice with them and ask you to pray for these new churches and that they would catch the vision of sharing Christ with their fellow Maasai!

Tues. Nov. 13 Praise the Lord for a new ministry opportunity for 20-29 year olds in Central, Eastern and Southern Africa. It is called “Hands on Africa.” Pray for Travis and Charity Jones as they head up this new mission adventure. Ask God to send these “20-somethings,” to open doors of ministry and to ready the hearts of the people across CESA.

Wed. Nov. 14 Praise God that He enables  His followers  to remain faithful and fully engaged in whatever task  they are involved in even though they are looking beyond to where He will take them next.   Pray for wisdom of regional and Tanzania cluster leadership as they assist in the process of re-location. Thank God that He has a place of service for all who have responded to the call to follow Him and we can trust Him to show the way to go.

Thurs. Nov. 15 Praise the Lord for new missionaries going to unreached people groups across Central, Eastern and Southern Africa. Pray that God would provide effective mentors so these new missionaries can learn language and culture.

Fri. Nov. 16 Pray that new missionaries will not become discouraged as they live in remote locations attempting to make inroads into people groups resistant to the Gospel. Ask God to sustain them in the midst of loneliness and provide national believers to partner with them.

Sat. Nov. 17 Pray for missionaries across Central, Eastern and Southern Africa that God would give them the ability to discern God’s work in the lives of the people and boldness to join Him in that work. Pray fro fruit that will remain in and through these missionaries.

Sun. Nov. 18 Entire families are impacted by the HIV/AIDS virus in Central, Eastern and Southern Africa. Thank God that missionaries and African Baptist leaders are awakening to the difference they make in showing the love of Christ to those affected by this disease. Pray that they would continue to communicate the hope of the Gospel and share the love of Christ, knowing that only God is able to transform lives and lifestyles.

Mon. Nov. 19 Standing in the Gap is a strategic prayer partnership opportunity to make a difference with an unreached people group.   A booklet is available giving brief information on 75 different people groups allowing you to select one to covenant to pray for.   But it doesn’t stop there, every month you will receive prayer items and more information on this people group and will catch the desire that CESA missionaries have in reaching every tribe, people and nation with the claims of Christ.   Please pray that many churches, Sunday School classes, women’s groups, youth groups, individuals, etc. will write  HYPERLINK "mailto:standinginthegap@ceasafrica.org" standinginthegap@ceasafrica.org for a booklet or will find it on the CESA website at  HYPERLINK "http://cesa.imb.org/the_unreached.htm"
http://cesa.imb.org/the_unreached.htm.   Pray that God will use this to further His kingdom here on earth and reach these most unreached people groups in CESA.   If you are not part of a group praying for an unreached people group, please join us in changing our world!

Tues. Nov. 20 Pray for Pam as she has her quarterly blood work done today. Pray that everything will be normal. Last month when Pam went to the Urologist for another follow up for the kidney stone she had in June the doctor was concerned because of blood in her urine. He ordered blood work to determine if her kidneys are functioning properly. She will go back to the Urologist in December. Pray for God’s hand to be evident through all of this.

Wed. Nov. 21 Pray for Dan as he celebrates his birthday. Pray for wisdom in the different decisions he has to make on a daily basis.

Thurs. Nov. 22 Give thanks today for the bountiful blessings that God bestows on each of us.

Fri. Nov. 23 Pray for the new missionaries finishing up with 40 Days and 40 Nights field orientation in Central, Eastern and Southern Africa that God would use the relationships and encounters with Africans to enable them to live for Christ among their people groups.

Sat. Nov. 24 Pray for Tim as he celebrates his 20th birthday. Pray for him to be able to discern when God is dealing with him about the different situations that come up in his life.

Sun. Nov. 25 Central, Eastern and Southern Africa Leadership Team (CESALT) meeting is in the planning stages.   This is a time for all strategy facilitators, treasurers, logistic coordinators and other key leaders to meet together so that we can better work together to see God’s kingdom come here in CESA.   The Trustees on the CESA committee, other stateside partners, and Jerry and Bobbye Rankin, President of the IMB will be at this meeting.   February 25-29, 2008 are key dates to already be praying over. Will you ask God to reign and for His leadership to be clear and obvious? Ask that this time together would be a good example of the body of Christ working together in unity so that many will hear, believe and multiply themselves.

Mon. Nov. 26 Central, Eastern and Southern Africa is known for its training through Bible Schools and seminaries. Now it is taking an oral approach using “Training for Trainers.” Using key Bible stories, small groups are springing up across the region teaching believers to share their faith. Ask God to use the training to build His church and ignite a church planting movement across the region.

Tues. Nov. 27 Pray for wisdom for the Central, Eastern and Southern Africa leadership in raising prayer support, in exploring isolated people groups and in writing personnel requests as they push the boundaries of lostness in order to engage the unreached people groups across the region.

Wed. Nov. 28 Pray that as personnel requests are made and people respond to God’s call to go that God would prepare the hearts of the unreached peoples of Central, Eastern and Southern Africa  to see Him, to know Him, to worship Him and to share Him.

Thurs. Nov. 29 Pray for Dan and Pam as they seek God’s guidance as they correspond with leadership on the field about where they will serve when they return to the field in September 2008.

Fri. Nov. 30 Pray for Pam, the staff and the kids at Kid’s Fort as we begin practicing for a Christmas program on Dec. 21st. As far as we know this will be the first time Kid’s Fort has done anything like this so it is a pretty big endeavor. Pray that it will be something that will minister to the families of Kid’s Fort.
